How to Choose a Pink Rug

February 23rd, 2010Home & GardenIf you are looking for a pink rug that is just right for your home, you need to take into account a number of factors to help you make the right choice. There are pink rugs that will be perfect for your situation but many others which will not do at all. Here are the most important elements to consider.
1. Which Color Pink?
If you are putting a pink rug into an existing or planned room color scheme then you need to get the shade just right to coordinate with other items in the room. (And of course, if you are choosing your rug first, other items will need to work with the color you choose). You can get rugs in every shade of pink from fuchsia to the palest pastel and also in peachy pinks and salmon type colors which have a hint of yellow. The hot pinks go well with strong, neutral colors such as black and white, the pale pinks with other pastels as well as white and the peachy pinks with colors such as cream and beige.
2. Style of Rug
If you will use your rug in a traditional style room then you need a traditional rug to suit. You can get many rugs which contain a few colors along with pink in a pattern and these work very well in a traditional room. You could also look at pink Chinese rugs for this type of room. In a contemporary room, you need either a plain color rug with a texture (perhaps a bright pink shag rug) or a bold pattern using one or two other colors.
3. Shape and Size of Rug
Make sure that your rug fits the shape and size of the area where you will place it. If you are not sure try making a template of your rug using newspaper taped together and see how the size and shape looks in position on your floor before you buy.
4. Quality
A cheap pink rug is not the way to enhance your room. Buy the best quality you can afford especially if you are choosing a plain rug where the quality of the materials really shows.
